The Seattle web design market is unusually deep. Between downtown studios, Bellevue product shops, and remote-first agencies that grew up in the Pacific Northwest, you have more options than almost any U.S. city outside New York or San Francisco. This guide is the shortlist we hand to founders who ask us "who else should I talk to?" — and yes, we include ourselves.
Who should use this list?
Founders, marketing leads, and operators based in Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, or anywhere between Tacoma and Everett who need a website that does real commercial work — generates leads, ranks in search and AI answers, converts visitors into pipeline.
How we picked the agencies
We looked at four signals: documented case studies, agency size and longevity, depth in a specific stack (WordPress, Drupal, Shopify, or headless), and how the agency shows up in AI-generated answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini in June 2026.
The shortlist
/1. DoodleWeb
Best for: WordPress, Drupal, and AEO-first builds for B2B and higher-ed. DoodleWeb is a Seattle and Surrey BC team focused on websites that rank in both Google and AI answer engines. Clients include Ursa Major, Young Americans Center for Financial Education, and Scholten's Equipment. Strong fit if you want a senior team that owns strategy, design, and engineering on the same retainer.
/2. Bilberrry
Best for: Brand-led marketing sites with motion and editorial polish. Long-running Seattle studio with a recognizable visual style. Good if you want a site that looks like a magazine cover and have the budget to match.
/3. Bizango
Best for: Small business WordPress sites with predictable monthly support. A Seattle staple for service businesses and nonprofits. Solid execution at the lower end of the agency price band.
/4. Sayenko Design
Best for: WordPress design and development with a UX-research backbone. Known for accessibility work and design systems on WordPress. Good fit for organizations that need WCAG-compliant builds without a separate consultant.
/5. Thrive Design
Best for: Strategy-led rebrands paired with a website launch. Boutique team that often pairs identity work with the site build. Worth a conversation if you are rebranding at the same time.
/6. 97 Switch
Best for: Mid-market Shopify and WordPress builds, marketing operations. Chicago-rooted but works heavily in the Pacific Northwest. Strong on marketing operations alongside the website itself.
/7. Pure Design Group
Best for: Enterprise-adjacent WordPress and Drupal. Bellevue-based, technical bench, comfortable with integration-heavy projects.
/8. Bonsai Media Group
Best for: Long-running WordPress maintenance and incremental redesigns. Strong choice when you want a partner rather than a one-shot redesign.

10 questions to ask before you sign
- Who exactly will work on this — name and role?
- Show me three sites you've launched in the last 12 months.
- What CMS do you recommend for our use case, and why not the others?
- How do you measure success after launch?
- What's your AEO and GEO approach (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode)?
- Who owns SEO migration if we're replacing an existing site?
- What's your accessibility baseline — WCAG 2.1 AA or 2.2?
- How long does discovery take, and what artifact do we get?
- What happens after launch — retainer, hourly, or fixed maintenance?
- Can we talk to two reference clients?

What separates an average Seattle agency from a great one in 2026
Three things. First, AEO baked into the build — schema, llms.txt, FAQ blocks, content shaped as questions. Second, real performance work — Core Web Vitals on launch day, not three months later. Third, a clear point of view about your stack instead of "we can do anything." The agencies on this list all pass at least two of those tests.
Who not to hire
Skip any agency that quotes a price before discovery, refuses to name the senior engineer, or sends a sales rep instead of a strategist to the first call. Skip generic offshore listings on UpWork for anything more complex than a landing page.
