WP Engine's GEO for agencies guide — and the Partner Pulse session behind it
Driving AI Search Visibility with SiteSonar

DoodleWeb co-founder Chandan Sharma joins WP Engine's Agency Partner Pulse with Brian Gardner to show how agencies audit, optimize, and prove AI search visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude.

WP Engine just published GEO for agencies — a practical guide to generative engine optimization written for the agency channel. It lands two weeks after our founder, Chandan Sharma, walked WP Engine's agency network through the same workflow live on Agency Partner Pulse. This post is our read on the guide, what it gets right, and where the video session fills in the how-to.

What the WP Engine guide covers

The guide makes the case agencies have been hearing from clients all year: buyers increasingly ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot who to hire, and classic rankings alone no longer decide whether your brand gets named. It frames GEO as an agency service line — audit a client's AI visibility, fix the gaps, report the lift — which is exactly the motion we have been running and teaching.

The short version of the playbook, as both the guide and our session describe it:

  1. Baseline with real buyer questions. Build a prompt set of 50–100 questions your client's buyers actually ask, run it across the major engines, and record brand-named rate, citation rate, and which competitors get cited instead.
  2. Fix extractability. Question-shaped headings with the answer in the first sentence, FAQPage and Organization JSON-LD, consistent entity data across off-site profiles, and an llms.txt that tells crawlers what matters.
  3. Prove the lift. Rerun the same prompt set on a schedule and report movement against GA4 and Search Console, so the client sees a chart, not an assertion.

Watch the session behind the guide

If the guide is the "what and why," the Partner Pulse recording is the "how." In the video above, Chandan and WP Engine's Brian Gardner walk through a live audit: building the prompt set, reading citation gaps, and the specific content and schema changes that flip a non-citation into a citation. The session preview post has the full agenda.

Why this matters for agencies

GEO is the first new retainable service line agencies have had since technical SEO matured. Clients are already asking the question; the agency that can answer it with data — a baseline, a fix list, and a movement chart — wins the retainer. That is the business case WP Engine is making to its partner network, and it is the service we deliver as a GEO agency for our own clients.

If you want the same walkthrough run against your own site, book a call — we start with a baseline scan so the conversation opens on your numbers, not ours.
