Our Discovery Process Cuts Through the Fluff

A client in Bellevue recently told us our discovery process was more thorough than the full project another agency delivered for them. This isn't a surprise. We have spent years refining our process to get to the core of a business's needs quickly and effectively. It is why over 60% of qualified leads who go through it end up signing with us.

Our discovery is not a sales call. It is a structured, 90-minute meeting designed to see if we are a good fit for each other. We dig into your business, your customers, your challenges, and your goals. We ask the hard questions a junior-level shop might not even know to ask.

What is a discovery document?

It starts with a questionnaire. Before we even talk, we send you a detailed document that asks you to think deeply about your company and your project. We do not ask about your favorite colors or fonts. We ask about your 5-year business goals, your biggest operational bottlenecks, and the customer complaints you hear most often.

This isn't busywork. It forces you to articulate your own needs, and it gives us the raw material we need for a productive conversation. We can walk into the discovery call already having a foundational understanding of your business, whether you are a Tacoma-based manufacturer or a law firm in downtown Seattle.

How does the discovery meeting work?

Our 90-minute discovery call is a structured conversation, not a sales pitch. We review your questionnaire answers and go deeper. We will challenge your assumptions. We will ask you to justify your goals.

For example, if you say you want to "increase traffic," we will ask what kind of traffic, from where, and what that traffic needs to *do* to be considered a success. If a potential client selling high-end rain gear in Fremont wants more traffic, we need to know if that means more foot traffic to their store or more organic search traffic from people planning a trip to the Puget Sound.

Our job is not to build the website you *ask* for. Our job is to build the website your *business needs*. The discovery process is how we find the gap between the two.

We uncover the real problems. Often, a client comes to us with a solution in mind: "I need a new ecommerce site." Through discovery, we might find that their real problem is not the website itself, but a clunky inventory management system that a new site would not solve. We would rather have that conversation before you pay us a dime for a website that won’t fix your problem.

Why does this process work?

This process works because it builds trust and demonstrates our value. You see how we think. You get a taste of the strategic rigor we bring to every project. It shifts the conversation from a list of deliverables to a discussion about business outcomes.

When we do send a proposal, it is not a generic template. It is a direct response to the specific challenges and goals we uncovered in discovery. It details not just *what* we will do, but *why* we will do it, and what it will achieve for your business. It is a plan for your success, based on a deep understanding of your needs.

This is why our proposals get signed. By the time a potential client sees the contract, they are not just buying a website. They are investing in a strategic partner they know they can trust to deliver results.

If you want to see if we're the right fit for your next project, it starts with a conversation. Let's see if we can help you build the website your business truly needs.
